No issues at all other than the ones I mentioned in the post, namely the SSID broadcast and MAC address control.

I’ve ended up removing it from his room partly because he started grabbing it (highly amusing to watch!), but also because I didn’t want to perpetually keep a device emitting who knows what signals right next to him. We’re past the “paranoid parent” phase now so whilst it served its purpose well, we just don’t need it any longer.

You’re right, the dedicated baby monitoring items sold in stores are a rip off. Give this one a go.

Since you've been using this camera for a few months, how do you like it? Has it had any issues?

I'm looking for a IP infrared camera with sound for baby monitoring and was appalled at the price for commercial systems at the local baby store. Some were $200US.

Thank you for the review, I have purchased a camera for use in the same way (as a baby monitor) and I'm looking forward to having a play with it. I also want to be able to make the feed available to external viewers with a password so that we can use it as a webcam and my parents can dial in see baby sleeping :). I think I'll have to play with my settings or maybe do this with a Skype account which would probably be easier.

I'm looking forward to spending some quality geek time with the camera before my other new 'toy' that definately doesn't come with a manual turns up in July!

Hi Christian, glad you liked the write-up. It doesn’t produce any noticeable ambient light, it just illuminates the LEDs and you need to be looking directly at them to notice. Out little guy looks at it sometimes but it doesn’t seem to distract him. Most of the time he’s either rolling around or asleep. The green light you see at the bottom in the photo on my blog is just a status indicator which I’ve covered up.

If you were worried about the baby staring at it you could always remotely rotate it then spin it back when you were done. Or even mount it behind the baby where it’s not so obvious but you can still monitor them. I’m still very happy with it and reckon it’s a bargain price with not much to lose if you don’t like it. I’d definitely buy it again.

good review... i've been looking at this camera for a while and your post came up in my search "camera with no name".

i'm in the same boat with a new baby... does yours sleep at night with the amount of light produced by the camera? it will be the first question the wife asks :)

would you buy it again for $90? seems like a bargain to me.
