Weekly Update 235

A slow start this week as the camera refused to be recognised by any browser. The problem, of course, was that I'd plugged in a new DAC for the replacement speakers 🤷‍♂️ Despite the slow start, there's a heap in this week's update on all sorts of different things as I find myself continually drawn in different directions. But that's also what I love about this industry, that there's so much variety and always something to scratch every itch 🙂

  1. A massive thanks to everyone who has supported Elle's fundraising efforts (helping support the school and plant trees)
  2. The new Genelec speakers arrived, and they're amazing 😎 (the DAC and camera also seem to be working together now, I just plugged the DAC in whilst the camera was already on 🤷‍♂️)
  3. OctoPrint is now controlling all my 3D prints (there's a nice Home Assistant integration too that can alert on events)
  4. Lithophanes are a really neat way to bring photos into the 3D realm (this was done via Image to Lithophane)
  5. My David Vantage Pro2 weather station has arrived (mounted in a temporary location for now, but the data out of it looks really neat and goes straight into Home Assistant)
  6. The Gab rhetoric is just getting weirder and weirder (still no breach disclosure sent to members, but lots of rambling about conspiracy theories)
  7. WeLeakInfo was breached... more than a year after it was shut down (a reclaimed domain with an email address used on Stripe was the key)
  8. I don't think the petition to force people to provide ID on social media platforms will get any traction, but it deserves civilised discussion (some of the replies to this tweet were far from civilised)
